The Hideez Desktop Client

Overview

The Hideez Desktop Client is used for secure authentication on Windows-based workstations. Once installed and the workstation is approved in the Hideez Server dashboard, a QR code will appear on the Windows lock screen. To sign in, the user simply scans the QR code with their smartphone using the Hideez Authenticator mobile app.

System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)

  • Processor: x64-based processor

  • Memory: Minimum 2 GB RAM

  • Network: Stable connection to the Hideez Identity Cloud

    • A stable internet connection on the workstation

    • Access to the Hideez Identity Cloud over HTTPS (port 443)

Installation Instructions

  • Download the Hideez Desktop Client installer in .exe or .msi format to the workstation.

Note: The .exe version will also install .NET 9 and Visual C++ Redistributable, while the .msi version can be used for automated installations via Windows Group Policy (GPO).

  • Run the installer to begin the installation process.

  • Once the installation is complete, launch the Hideez Desktop Client and navigate to the "Settings" menu.

  • Enter the server URL for your Hideez Identity tenant and click "Check connection."

  • You will receive the following error message: "Workstation is not approved. Contact your system administrator."

  • Contact your Hideez tenant administrator and request approval for your workstation.

  • After the administrator approves the workstation in Hideez Cloud, return to Hideez Desktop Client → Settings and click the "Check connection" button to apply the changes.

Next Steps After Installation

  1. Choose the preferred authentication method:

Note: Passwordless authentication is only possible on workstations equipped with a TPM 2.0 module and joined to Active Directory.
